Erly earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Dickinson College in 1985 and in 1990 received his Juris Doctor Degree from the National Law Center at George Washington University. While at Dickinson he was a Charles P. Dana Scholar and the recipient of the William Lenox Avis Prize in U.S. History. He was admitted to practice before the Maryland Court of Appeals in 1990 and the U.S. District Court in 1991. Mr. Erly also practices before the U.S. Bankruptcy Court.
He is a member of the Calvert County, Maryland State and American Bar Associations. From 1995-1996 he served as President of the Calvert County Bar Association. At present, he serves as a member of the Trial Courts Judicial Nominating Commission and the MSBA Technology Council.
He graduated with honors from Northern High School in 1981, and is the son Maurice and Patricia Erly of Owings, Maryland.
Mr. Erly concentrates on involved domestic litigation and felony criminal matters.
